How to Disable SmartScreen Filter in Windows 8/8.1

Windows 8/8.1 Smart Screen filter is a built-in feature in windows 8 that warns when you try to open potentially dangerous files and specifically those which are downloaded from Internet. Without any doubt, this is a handy feature considering security at corporate level but if you are a home user, you may be annoyed by this pop up every now and then.
Smart Screen filter stops the execution of the program and tells the user that this program may harm the computer. So you cannot run it on windows 8/8.1. But still you can application from the “More info” option. Note that turning off Smart Screen will surely increase the potential risk of your machine to get effected by malwares or viruses but still if you have a good anti virus installed, you can simply turn it off.
To get rid of windows 8/8.1 Smart Screen filter, go to windows 8/8.1 Control Panel and click on System and Security.

In System and Security settings navigate to Action center and look for the option Change Windows Smart Screen settings in the left panel.

Now on the pop-up window, select the option Don’t do anything (turn off Windows Smart Screen).

Save the settings and from now on you will not get any notification from Windows Smart Screen filter for the applications downloaded from Internet.
